Holiday travel can be exciting!  Wrapped up in the hustle and bustle is the energy of others, many excitedly awaiting the reconnection with loved ones or the anticipation of getting away for a break.  But traffic, delayed flights, late nights, and coughing relatives can make good holiday times, sick ones.

If travel is part of your seasonal plans, here are 5 tips for supporting your immune system while making your holiday trek!

1. Keep adrenals in check.

Stress can kick adrenal glands into high gear, increasing cortisol levels and lowering immunity.

To manage chronic stress and high cortisol, try:

  • Adrenal Response® by Innate Response (1-3 tables daily depending on stress levels. *note that this supplement may take 1-3 weeks for full effect).
  • Cortisol Manager® by Integrative Therapeutics (1-2 tablets before bed depending on stress levels)

It’s recommended to start adaptogen supplements before holiday travel for best results.

To lower cortisol from acute stress, try:

  • Lavela WS 1265™ by Integrative Therapeutics (1 capsule up to 4 times daily as needed)
  • CBD (capsules, tinctures, balms, and creams as needed)

2. Support the immune system.

Boost the immune system before, during, and after travel with:

  • Immuni-LT™ by Mountain Peak Nutritionals (1 capsule 1-3 times per day, with food) for continuous support

or

  • Immuni-T™ by Mountain Peak Nutritionals (1-2 capsules up to 4 times per day) when feeling sick

3. Assist the microbiome.

Enhance immunity and aid gut health with probiotics.  Opt for at least 20 billion CFU daily.

4. Get good sleep.

Proper sleep allows the body time to rest and recover, helping strengthen the immune system.  Aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night.

In addition to adaptogen herbs to manage cortisol levels, sleep can also be supported with:

  • Tranquility™ by Mountain Peak Nutritionals (1-2 capsules before bed)
  • Vita Hemp Sleep Gummies
  • Blue Sky CBN (1 capsule at bedtime)

5. Make time for self-care.

No matter how busy things may seem, taking time to rest and regroup – especially when traveling – can keep both body and mind flourishing.

For self-care when traveling, consider:

  • drinking 1-2 glasses of water upon waking and staying hydrated throughout the day
  • a daily walk/run before everyone gets up in the morning
  • meditating on the plane or while riding as a passenger in the car
  • snacking on whole fruits and vegetables
  • setting boundaries for downtime before bed each night
  • stretching during bathroom breaks
  • relaxing with a warm cup of tea

and remember to have fun!

Enjoy your holiday travels; here’s to hoping they are filled with happiness and health!
