A Love Letter to Your Body

As this year comes to a close, many people feel pressure to reflect, reset, improve, and resolve. But before you set goals or make plans, there is something quieter that deserves attention.

Your body.

Not the version you want to change. The one that carried you through every single day of this year.

This is not a checklist. This is not a prescription.
This is a letter.
An acknowledgment.
And, for many, a long overdue conversation.

Dear Body,

I see you.

I see how often I asked you to keep going when you were tired.
How many times I pushed through discomfort because it felt easier than slowing down.
How often I expected you to adapt without offering much support in return.

I’m sorry for the times I ignored your signals because I was busy, distracted, or overwhelmed.
For the nights I asked you to rest after I had already run you into the ground.
For the moments I treated your symptoms like inconveniences instead of messages.

You did your best anyway.

I’m Beginning to Understand You Better

This year taught me something important.
You weren’t failing me. You were communicating.

The tension, the fatigue, the restless sleep, the digestive shifts, the aches that lingered longer than they used to. Those weren’t random. They were your way of asking for attention, for rhythm, for care that went deeper than quick fixes.

I’m learning that you don’t need me to be perfect.
You need me to be present.

To notice when stress becomes constant.
To respond sooner instead of waiting until things fall apart.
To work with you instead of pushing against you.

Here’s What I’m Committing to Next

I’m committing to listening earlier.

When you ask for rest, I’ll stop negotiating with exhaustion.
When you feel tight or overwhelmed, I’ll give you space to soften.
When your energy dips, I’ll ask what you need instead of reaching for what numbs or distracts.

I’m choosing support that helps you regulate and recover, not just cope.

That might look like acupuncture to help calm your nervous system.
Massage or lymphatic work to release what you’ve been holding.
Gentler movement instead of forcing intensity.
Food that stabilizes rather than spikes.
And moments of stillness that aren’t earned, but allowed.

I’m Letting Go of the Old Rules

I’m letting go of the idea that you should be tougher, faster, quieter, or easier to manage.

I’m releasing the belief that healing has to be dramatic to be meaningful.
Or that progress only counts if it’s visible to others.

I’m learning that small shifts, done consistently, change everything.
That safety matters.
That regulation comes before resilience.
That when you feel supported, you naturally move toward balance.

Thank you for adapting when I didn’t know how to slow down.
For carrying stress, emotion, and responsibility without complaint.
For continuing to heal, even when I wasn’t paying attention.

I’m not promising to get everything right.
But I am promising to stay in conversation with you.

This next year isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about partnering with you.
