Acupuncture, IVF, and infertility

Acupuncture for Infertility, Highlands Ranch, dr adam graves

If you or your spouse is considering IUI or IVF then acupuncture and Chinese medicine should be considered to increase the effectiveness of the treatment. Acupuncture is a safe and effective procedure that helps increase blood flow to the uterus, balance hormones, assist egg production and relieve stress.

Beyond the medical benefits of acupuncture, the mental aspects of stress relief and balanced emotions are just as valuable as the physical benefits. Treatment protocols tend to consist of 2 to 3 months of treatments. Usually, 6 to 8 weeks before IVF, acupuncture helps prepare the uterus for implantation, assist in the production of healthy follicles and improve the lining of the uterus. After IVF, acupuncture is ideally done the same day after an IVF treatment or IUI procedure to help increase the chances of implantation, and dilate the cervix to allow the embryo to be transferred more easily. If successful, acupuncture is usually continued for 4 to 6 weeks to assist development of the embryo/fetus.

Infertility treatment can be a roller coaster ride of mental, emotional and physical issues and the patients that take the time to add acupuncture into their treatments tend to have more of a joy ride versus a ride of terror.
